In my newspaper-based works, I use beauty as a deliberate tactic mimicking how visual appeal can seduce, distract, and disarm. These surfaces invite the viewer in, but their prettiness is a trap. Like propaganda, they offer comfort while concealing deeper tensions. I’m interested in that moment when the aesthetic becomes suspicious, when beauty stops soothing and starts asking questions.
