Joseph Beuys Everyone is an artist

How Art Museum

“Everyone is an artist” this title written with small letters on descriptions of the works. This exhibition held place on the second floor of the How Art Museum and after “Construction of reality” Leandro Erlich this was a great relieve. Surprisingly for myself with half of the people from the first floor, this exposition came across calm and modest.

About Joseph Beuys, I learned a long time ago while studying the German language. I needed to prepare the presentation about a contemporary German artist, so I found a weird man with a hat who believed that everyone could be an artist.

His personal story triggered even more interest. Connection with a German Luftwaffe, participation in World War and being rescued in Crimea build for me picture about him with black and white colours.

During the current exhibition were presented a couple of videos which I haven’t seen before. How to “Explain Picture to a Dead Hare” 1965 and “Coyote III” 1984. With first one, I “met” before but with the last one not and I can say that with Beuys you really need to take your time.

In the end, happiness and excitement are the right words for this visual experience.
