Basic Shapes

Updated: Jun 13, 2019

These sketches were completed in two days (size of paper A4), because one hour per day was not enough for me. The appearance of the model could not be conveyed exactly in 15/20 minute sketch. But the body plastic, pivot points, and proportions, in my opinion, are represented correctly. At least it took a lot of time to adjust the proportions and ratios.

Small problems are still visible in the sketches: somewhere long leg, somewhere oval face should be bigger, hands should be a little wider.

Overall, I think the problem was that I was too close to the model. It turned out that I was looking down at her. Due to this, it was difficult to relate the legs to the torso and to the head.

The legs of the model were constantly in foreshortening, so I had to measure a person by relationship, for example, to a chair, or how many heads would fit in from chest to knee.
