Still life using line

It was difficult.

Because treating the objects in a distinct way but at the same time with a difference was a challenging task as I needed to use mainly lines.
I choose fruits with a similar shape but with a different structure. As a background I took an old tablecloth with a fruit ornament, this would create a “story” and I had an idea how to compose it with an additional space behind still life.
At first, I used two A4 yellow pages for fast drafts and analyses with an ink pen. A distinction of the mandarin from lemon and apricot from papaya was not obvious and I didn’t like Dürer effect like it would be a lithograph. On second drawing I "let it go" and painted with the idea of flat decorative form. Later I changed colour in PhotoShop and found it better in black and white.

At last, I started to work with the A2 size it gave me the chance to separate the drawing on two parts of a background and still life itself. My inner goal was to indicate as many lines as I could in this drawing. A pastel line was broad and lively but from an ink pen, it was sharp and concrete.

In the end, the line took almost a central place in this drawing. Free lines which supposed to indicate a material at the same time form objects in addition to fruits.
