Assignment 4 Reflection on Tutor Report

Updated: Sep 27, 2019

Thank you so much for your constructive feedback.

«…seek your own style and approach from direct observation rather than trying to reproduce a tutorial» (OCA Tutor)

I a bit disagree with this because at first, you need to know how things should work, or at least you need to practice it. It would be like – go the Giza and study frescos from observation and not from the professionals who would explain you whole history and background. I saw in China how all country learns from copying. Only day by day reproduction gives them such a quantity of workers. But, of course, it is only first step. The second part of this process should be creativity and an open mind, which at the end I demonstrate in my final works.

«…experimenting with more furniture or other three dimensional objects with the work» (OCA Tutor)

’m not sure that this is in the field of my interest, since “you can’t hang it on the wall” and there is no aesthetics.

«I do wonder how the work would function in a gallery space» (OCA Tutor)

I took this comment into account in the fifth part and added a technical description for the work in the fourth part.

Your use of a Servo’s painting as inspiration is intriguing yet you do not outline clearly in your learning log your reasons for this choice. (OCA Tutor)

Added as a new post.

…you introduce ideas around Instagram and an interest in identity and the selfie (OCA Tutor)

My final work was all about this subject

…I wonder if you can build on this success, perhaps reworked in different mediums or scanned and worked on digitally? … The connection between analogue and digital is working well for you but reflect more on your experiments and select areas to develop further, balancing both approaches, so they complement and integrate throughout the project. (OCA Tutor)

Very interesting idea, I will finalize this sketch and experiment. Although I have already finished the fifth part, I will try to develop more my approach with digital projection on the drawing.

Overall the work may benefit from a greater sense of scale, (OCA Tutor)

I really cannot understand this moment. We need to discuss this in person.

… add more detailed documentation of your sketchbook work and your work in progress onto your blog. If at all possible, let me know if you can post me your sketchbook (OCA Tutor)

In the fifth part, I changed the work process. I wrote down all my thoughts and steps. I accompanied each stage of work with comments and thoughts. All posted on my blog.

Part of my sketchbook was sent to the tutor on September 16, 2019.

… try to synthesise a little more the relationship between your practical work and how this is supported by your contextual interests (OCA Tutor)

I hope I was a good and grateful student and took into account all the comments.

Your analysis of research points is thorough but evidence of reflective and critical thinking within the analysis of your own work is limited. take regular notes, jotting down ideas and opinions as you go, forming a commentary that synthesises your reflective and critical thinking alongside your practical work. (OCA Tutor)

I get it. In the process...

Your final reflection on your progress of Part 4 doesn’t offer enough of a picture of your journey. (OCA Tutor)

I get it. New post will come.

I feel like I need to say that. For example, Nikola Tesla, played everything in his head, and tested, and made conclusions, and he did not need to describe the process or even go through it physically for the experiment, only final important things. I understand him very well! I have such a process in my head that I do not always keep up with him physically. But what I think is especially fruitful, I translate into reality and give physical form.
