Long-Term Vision

Goal:Establish myself as a recognised contemporary artist who creates meaningful, poetic, and thought-provoking work that speaks to both art professionals and ordinary people. I want to contribute to the development of contemporary aesthetics while creating emotional and intellectual connections through my art.

Objectives (by 2028):

  • Be represented by a reputable gallery that supports my voice and values.

  • Participate in significant art fairs (e.g. Art Basel, Liste, Frieze).

  • Have my work acquired by museums or institutions.

  • Build bridges between complex ideas and everyday experience, create powerful art that speaks to non-art audiences without compromising conceptual depth.

YEAR 1: Summer 2025 – Summer 2026

Consolidation, Clarity, and MFA Preparation

In the Studio

  • Deepen material exploration with plywood, oil paint, newspaper, and spatial installation.

  • Clarify the core emotional and political messages of my work.

  • Develop a clear visual and conceptual language across 2–3 new series.

  • Experiment with new methods: text, sound, or interaction.

MFA Preparation (Top Priority)

Step 1: Finalise Program & Professor Preferences

I've already outlined this in the previous post. I think about creating a small “personal scorecard” for each, ranking how it fits my practice, lifestyle, and values (to ease final choice).

Also: Research student/alumni success stories. Reach out to a current or former student of my preferred professors, if possible.

Step 2: Application Planning

→ Draft a timeline: portfolio photography, editing, translations, CV, artist statement, research statement, recommendation letters.

→ Build a folder per institution: with requirements, deadlines, and notes.

Step 3: Financial/Practical Planning

  • Consider DAAD (Germany), Goethe-Institut programs, or other scholarships.

  • Prepare mentally and logistically for relocation (housing, costs, dog care).

Out of the Studio

  • Prepare One Artist Show for Art Karlsruhe (Feb 2026) — I need to consider a theme that could later evolve into a series for my MFA.

  • Plan trip to New York (if feasible) Can it be a research and production phase? (perhaps linked to a small group show or studio visit circuit).

  • Regularly write/film short reflections to build my public voice (for Instagram, Substack, or a personal blog).

  • Build a professional network:

    • Curators, project spaces, thinkers

    • Potential mentor or dialogue partner for positioning my practice

    • Apply to 2/3 curated group shows that align with my practice, even if small. This keeps my CV evolving while preparing for study.

YEAR 2: Summer 2026 – Summer 2027

Expansion, Visibility & Institutional Positioning

Begin MFA

  • Start with a focused research theme (perhaps “Aesthetics of Manipulation” or “Tactile Politics”)

  • I will use time to experiment radically within a safe context

  • Document my process regularly, MFA years are important for future archiving

  • Explore interdisciplinary collaborations within your MFA (e.g., musicians, performers, architects)

International Growth

  • Apply for 1–2 residencies (check Cité des Arts Paris, Rupert Vilnius, PRAKSIS Oslo, etc).

  • Begin building a network with curators, institutions, and peers across Europe.

Critical Writing and Publication

  • Write 1–2 short essays (they can be co-authored or presented as “artist letters”) on:

    • Propaganda and emotional materiality

    • Beauty and ideology

    • Aesthetics of touch/gut feeling

·       Try to publish at least one (even a zine, online journal, or podcast can be a first step). or/and Create a simple portfolio publication (print-on-demand booklet with images, texts, studio process)

 Artistic Practice

  • Begin developing a large-scale installation with public or semi-public interaction.

  • Continue showing my work in curated exhibitions, now aiming higher or more internationally.

  • Consider a collaborative duo or artist-initiated project (can lead to unexpected curatorial invites)

YEAR 3: Summer 2027 – Summer 2028

Positioning, Power & Ambition

 Final Year of MFA

  • Prepare a powerful MFA thesis exhibition — consider it as a "first institutional solo."

  • Connect MFA final show with public-facing events (reading, dialogue, workshop).

Bigger Institutional Engagement

  • Apply to larger exhibitions, public commissions, or city-funded art programs.

  • Consider applying to open calls such as:

    • Forecast Platform (Berlin)

    • Kunstfonds Bonn

    • European art awards or competitions

Teaching / Public Programming

  • Design and offer a small, open art course for non-artists (online or in real life).

  • Focus on sensory experience, contemporary art appreciation, and emotional access.

  • Partner with a local community centre, school, or platform to co-host.

The Big Project

  • Launch your first “flagship” work, the kind that sets your tone publicly.

  • Ideas could include:

    • A participatory mobile structure or newspaper pavilion

    • A multi-sensory installation about propaganda and touch

    • A decentralised art project where others contribute anonymously

I need to begin writing grants or finding a producing partner in 2027 so I can launch it by 2028.

Ongoing Themes Across All 3 Years

  • I am going to developa reflective archive: document works, process, writings, failures

  • I need to balance emotional vulnerability with intellectual rigour

  • I will stay grounded in ethics: beauty, care, intuition, touch (without sentimentality)

  • Synaesthesia and gut feeling remain my compass — my way of decoding the world
